Long-running shareware dual-panel file manager for Windows

Total Commander is a shareware file manager for Windows, made by Ghisler Software in Switzerland. It has two file windows side by side, a built-in FTP client with FTPS support and archive handling for ZIP, RAR and 7Z.

Total Commander is a dual-pane file manager for Windows, and its homepage lists two file windows side by side as its core layout. It adds tabs, a multi-rename tool, file comparison with an editor, directory synchronization and a Quick View panel that shows images and videos. Its archive handling covers ZIP, 7Z, RAR and several older formats, and plugins extend it further.

The program is shareware. The developer's order page lists a license price of 42 euros plus VAT in Europe, and registered users get free updates. The download page points Mac users to emulators and third-party alternatives, because the program is built for Windows. Its built-in FTP client supports FTPS, so it can connect to encrypted FTP servers without extra software.
