Mimestream connects to Gmail through the Gmail API directly, without an intermediary sync service, and it works with several Google accounts in one app. It is designed as a Mac app, with menu bar access, multiple windows, Dock integration and Gmail search. Invites can be checked against Google Calendar or Apple Calendar before a reply is sent.

Mimestream costs $49.99 a year or $4.99 a month after a 14-day free trial, and the site says a subscription is the only purchase option. A group subscription with centralized billing covers teams. The app supports Gmail accounts only, so it suits people who already use Google for mail. Outlook and Apple Mail cover other providers.
